Ruaitehorahora is derived from a traditional Māori belief system utilised inside some of our learning institutions. It was a metaphorical system used to describe the different levels of knowledge attained by a learner.

At its essence,  it is is a celebration of the human spirit's insatiable curiosity and thirst for growth, emphasizing the value of lifelong learning and the profound impact of sharing this learning with others. The artwork serves as a poignant reminder that knowledge is not static but rather a dynamic force that grows and evolves through the act of sharing. Each time knowledge is shared, whether through teaching, storytelling, or other forms of communication, it has the potential to inspire, educate, and empower others. These individuals, in turn, may share this knowledge with others, creating a cascading effect that can lead to profound transformations in society.
